Hallmarking and your order

I made a commitment last December to hallmark EVERYTHING that I make.  I don't need to - legally I only need to hallmark Sterling Silver if it weighs over 7.78g.  But I think that it adds a guarantee to you all that you're buying a quality product if it's been independently marked.
There are a lot of unscrupulous vendors out there - especially prevalent on certain online marketplaces - who will advertise jewellery as being Sterling Silver, mark it themselves with a 925 stamp and sell it at a ridiculously low price.
People buy these cheap pieces of 'silver' jewellery, their fingers turn green or blister and they assume that they're allergic to Silver!
In reality what they've actually purchased could well be Silver plated, a fine coating of silver on a nickel base, as is often used in imported, mass produced budget jewellery.

By buying hallmarked silver jewellery, you know categorically that what you are buying is 925 Sterling Silver as it's been assayed - the process where the precious metal content is verified - by one of the Assay Offices in the UK.

I am registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office - established in 1457 it is the second oldest Assay Office in the UK, the oldest being Goldsmith's Hall in London

By having ALL of my jewellery hallmarked, I feel as if I am assuring you of it's quality - BUT - and here it is - it can take longer for you to get your purchases.

I do carry a stock of hallmarked rings in different sizes that I take around to Craft markets with me so if you order a piece which I've already made and had hallmarked, easy days, you'll get your order after I've polished it.
If it's a bespoke piece or a smaller/larger than average piece, the time it takes for you to receive your piece can be up to a week longer for it to come back from hallmarking.
If you need your item quicker than quickly, just contact me to discuss that!
